Im starting a new tank and Im looking for suggestion. I have an 18 gallon tall tank that will be going in my office I have been keeping fish for a few years now and have wanted to do a marine tank and am looking for suggestions. currently my other tanks are a 75 gallon discus tank and a 55 gallon african cichlid tank. I would like something that is less work than the discus. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

start with a bigger tank.

The more money you pour into your hardware, the less maintenance it requires. i.e. You may want to go for that protein skimmer and UV sterilizer so you have to mix less salt water.

Corals will require a good deal of work. I say go FOWLR and get some small community fishes. Also, be sure you have lights with UVA/UVB for coralline algae and anemones.

A peppermint shrimp will take away any aiptasia if you run across it. Good luck!

True...salt stuff isnt somewhere you want to skimp. 90% of the time it just leads to you getting frustrated and leaving the hobby.

If you do the 18 gallon over do all the filtration and live rock. I dont think there is a such thing as to much. It will help with the water changes and stuff as such. But from my exp. I would not do a salt water tank and not pay it a lot of attention. It just cost to much.

very true.

As well as this size tank can not really hold any fish. Mostly just corals and maybe a nano fish you will never see.
