with some 25 years in salt and mod of the salt section one thing I always say to new people in salt is to read a good and reputable book the link below is a great and quick read to get your feet wet.

second is sometimes to much advice can be bad if you get information from any person online it could be great or could not. Sometimes your local fish store has good staff or your local aquarium society or if you like private message me anytime

One of the best things that I learned when starting is called "The Rule of 2". The idea is that there are a lot of ways to get to 2. For example. 1+1=2, 4/2=2, square root of 144 times 2 is 2. There are really complicated ways to do this, and some really simple ways. The following two books I found on Amazon showed the basics really well for a marine tank and then a more indepth look at corals.

2) Aquarium Corals: Selection, Husbandry, and Natural History
