I have been researching saltwater setups because until now i only wanted freshwater. I want to setup a small reef tank in a 29 gal i have. I know it is a much bigger responsibility than a freshwater tank but i have been reading all the stickies and other threads i find. I would like to stock it with clown fish for sure(what type i am not sure yet) and an anenome or two. I am educating myself but want to get the tank cycling soon and any advice would be great. What type of equipment do i need? I was thinking bout using a fluval 305 for filtration. Would i need a chiller for the tank. Also what small fish and inverts would b suitable for such a small tank. Any other info would be great. thx

IMO a chiller shouldn't be necessary. Are you planning on having live rock or coral?

Yes i would like to have live rock and coral, im not sure of everything i would need for this type of aquarium

you'll need a protien skimmer and good lighting. t 5 lights should be fine but im not sure which specific bulbs. Someone else would know better what bulbs to use. my fixture already had bulbs so i didnt really bother to do much researching on the matter

fluval is fine get a good protein skimmer, power-heads, and heater, T-5's are fine for lighting and no need for a chiller unless your running MH on it at a 6 inch height from tank surface. any other questions send me a private message

Mr Reef knows his stuff. He's answers my questions before and helped a lot.

Make sure to protect your powerhead when keeping an anemone. They tend to walk around and can get chopped up by them.

Ya i decided to wait on the 29g but i might be able to get my hands on a 200g with a stand. Im working on it but nothin is for sure yet.
