Hi , I am starting to get really interested in marine tanks and I want to do a fish with live rock tank. but I have a few questions:D
I know with saltwater tanks you should try to get a larger sized tank so I want to go with a 55g
I plan to use alot of live rock and only have maybe one or two fish
because I want to start with a slow amount of waste being accumulated.
Would a hang on the back filter and lots of live rock be sufficient? or would I need to also get protien skimmers and powerheads?
also when setting up I heard that it is better to put the rocks in and the sand overtop of them is that right?

thanks and sorry I have alot of questions lol

lots of live rock plus good water circulation will be enough for a few fish. a skimmer isnt needed but once you've tried one/seen the crap they can pull from the water, you'll never want to be without one
you could place your carbon in the HOB filter, a better idea would be to get a HOB refugium instead.
putting rock on the tank floor is a good idea as it helps stabilize your rockwork.

:iagree: word for word
