I am in the middle of cycling my first saltwater tank. I have been brainstorming about what to fill it with. Its a 30 gallon tank that will be fish only. For filtration I am using a hob filter, live sand, and 11 lbs of live rock. I was thinking of choosing fish from some of these possibilities: tomatoe clownfish, flame angel, diamond goby, banggai cardinal fish, bi color blenny, coral banded shrimp. Am I on the right track? I am open to any feedback or suggestions.

All good canditates to fill your new tank.

The coral banded may decide to catch one of it's tankmates, but I would say cool, you may want more live rock, seems to be important for dwarf angels. Plus the more rock you have the more comfortable all inhabitants will be. It doesn't have to be all live, just rock suitable for salt.

Sure. If that was just a general listing of possible additions, absolutly. Though I wouldn't recommed all of them to be put together in that tank, LOL.

Flame angel, 3 bengai cardinals, and a coral banded. The flame angel is the centerpiece. The Bengai cardinalfish are the supporting cast and the coral banded is the ooh and aww. A good combination.

For about $10 more, you could get the potters angel, a much more attractive fish then the flame. All the dwarfs are really stunning fish, just have to look and see which one you think looks the best, but definately the angel would be the centerpiece. Some of the smaller wrasses also make good characters for the tank. Tons to choose from, just read before you buy!!!!

For stocking, I would do 1 dwarf angel, 1-2 clowns, just not maroon(get to big for this tank in the long run) 1 shrimp (Blood shrimp would be my choice nice deep red) 1 Cardinal, I have heard the banggais sometimes breed too much in the aquarium, which could be cool.
