im new to sand. i am using sand in my planted 10 gallon tank as substrate. how do i clean the sand when it gets dirty? i know gravel vacuum wont work.

Good choice! I love sand! And I use a gravel vacuum and it works just find. just skim the top of the sand, and occasionally go a little bit deeper! You will like sand!
Sands my fav substrate also. Like said above just skim across the top and every once and awhile just kinda shift through the sand to let any trapped gasses escape.
