this is my first post, but i am sure many more will follow, i have several tanks, just picked up a 75 today with a broken center brace, i know i can rig it myself, but i just want to replace the entire top bracing, is there a web site i can order this from, the local fish stores here are not to good, so internet would be my best bet, also picked up a fluval 304, i emptied all the media out and wanted to get some seggestions on how to st this up the best was, what to put in each of the three baskets, this will be setup as an oscar tank, 2 for now about 12 inches long, and i am alos looking to buy new lights and lids for the tank if anyone has anything local to the dc area thanks

Years ago,I purchased a 125 from a friend and it had a top frame with no cross braces.I putup with it for a while with wood strips untill I found a lfs that happened to have a top frame with braces that a customer ordered but never picked up so I cut off my old frame and siliconed the new one in place. You may have to contact one of the aquarium tank companies such as AGA[All Glass Aquarium]as your best bet.The stores can get them but just like my situation, they may not be willing to order such things for fear of getting stuck with something that a customer suddenly does not want.

lfs said they will order one for me today, but i wont get it till next week, they should be a universal fit correct? it shouldnt matter the tank brand? i believe the tank came from petsmart, maybe a perfecto, unsure, but they should all work on a tank regardless of the brand i hope, has anyone ever replaced one and if so are there any tricks to getting the old one off, can you just destroy it or do you have to cut the silicone and take it off in one piece, and is there a specific type of silicone to use to attach the new one or just home depot stuff?

The frames are not universal. I bought an AGA frame for my Perfecto 125 and I had to modify it a little bit to get it to work, so it may not be a perfect fit but it won't be so far off that you can't make it work.

As far as removing the old frame, just take your time and be sure to clean all the old silicon off before you install the new one. Get yourself a large long flathead screwdriver to use as a pry bar for removing the frame. As for silicon, I used GE 100% clear silicon that I got from Home Depot, works fine.

And this should be in the General Aquaria Disscussion area not in the Classifieds.

I thought that it was in this section because he was looking for someone who was selling a frame.
