Hello all, I have a 175 Bowfront (Oceanic Aquarium). I was wondering if this is big enough to keep a Stingray comfortably.

L 72.5 x W 29.5 x H 24. Are the dimensions.

It's drilled and sump ready, so I'll likely be using a sump and FX6 for filtration. I already have the FX6 running.

Also wondering what tank mates go well with a Ray. So I can plan my stock and it.

Current substrate is BDBS, what decorations if any are acceptable to keep with a Ray in a tank my size? Sorry for all the questions, just want to make the right choices for the Ray, and build the rest of the tank around it.

Hi mate, I like your thinking but not really big enough I’m afraid. Smaller species like hystrix might be comfortable for a while but even they will need bigger with in a couple of years. If you really want to keep rays you want to be looking at a tank that’s 3ft wide and for the bigger species at least 8ft long.

Thanks for the information! I planned on getting a bigger tank at a future date, I'll look into a wider tank!

I've been doing some looking around, what about the marbled motoro? Still too large for the current tank?

Marbled motoro are beautiful fish but they do get big and thing with rays is it doesn’t take em long. They can hit 12” in one year and even at that size they’re big fish. Best to get it right from the start. Well worth the hassle though. Keeping rays is so rewarding.
