Hello MFK!

My plan to get m first sump up and running is almost complete but I'm having a heck of a time figuring out the return side that goes into my 135 freshwater.

My pump is a Jebao DC-9000, which has a 1 1/2 inch pec connection on it and I only need to move the water up 3-4 feet of head room.
I did some measurements and if I use pure pvc pipe at 1 1/2 inch I'm going to have problems fitting it in behind my glass lids, not to mention it'll be unslightly as hell.

When I was first getting parts my LFS sold me two output nozzles that look exactly like this, which has a 5/8 inch connection: http://s1257.photobucket.com/user/Bakenn7/media/2012-11-21_15-32-50_648.jpg.html

Should I try to run pure pipe and make a huge spray bar? Can I size the pipe down at all so it's not so big?
How about the nozzles, can I split the return line and connect with those somehow? Really have no idea which way to go.

Thanks for any direction!

You can split the line from the sump into 2 lines (or more) by using a fitting called a Tee, you can see I've split the line from the pump below using a Tee to send another line going off diagonally.

There are also fittings called reducers, that allow you to go from 1.5" down to 1/2 ".
I get all these at places like Home Depot or Lowes.
I also like to use threaded unions(below) that allow me to unscrew when maintenance requires me to detach pipes.

There is a very visible Tee splitting the horizontal from vertical right section of highest most pipe. I split lines all the time, because I run 3 or 4 tanks off each sump. You can also where I've reduced 1.5" to 1/2" entering the biotower to a sump below the vertical section of pipe.

yes use a tee with a reducer to make the piping thinner. You will get very good flow out of 2, 3/4" returns.

Thanks for the replies!

So far I've developed this for a shopping list:
1 1-1/2 inch wye
2 1-1/2 to 3/4 inch slip brushing (couldn't find a picture, hope this is threaded since it's sold as a brushing)
2 3/4 inch npt male to 3/4 inch barb adapter
10 feet of 1 inch od-3/4 inch id vinyl tubing
2-4 1 inch hose clamps.
All to hook up to my 2 3/4 or 5/8 inch spray nozzles.

Sound good or am I missing something?
