Hi, im new to SW and i have a 29g Biocube that ive been cycling with 31lb of LR and 30 of sand. Yesterday ive noticed diatoms, i think that's what it is on the rocks and sand (brown spots), and this morning im starting to see small spots of green algae, does that mean im getting closer to the end of the cycle?

Hope you didn't use freshwater while mixing the salt that can cause a bloom of diatoms that feed on the freshwater (correct me if im wrong that might be sand).

how long has it been cycling?

Well I am not there but that sounds like diatoms. They will be there for a bit but will more than likely resolve themselves.

More than likely it's the silicates in the sand fueling the diatoms - you can add a small reactor with phos-ban resin to help remove them, also prevent phosphate build up. Eventually the excess silicates will disappear but could be a year or more from now. Diatom stage is generally called new tank syndrome.

Yup, these are totally fine. Let the cycle run its course and then suck them out during your h2o change. GFO or chemipure will also work to make this stuff go away.

Good luck and happy reefing.
