I just got a new 40g breeder and wanted to throw some bichirs into it along with some clown loaches and some cichlids. Now i know that they will get to big for the tank but i plan on a transfer when they do. but what kind could i put in there? and how many? Remember I am new so pls take it easy on me. and any help would be appreciated.

Welcome , how big tank will the polys be endding up in ? a 40gal will be ok for small polys but when the get big they will need another home? Therefore the type of polys you can keep in the 40g depends on the other tank you have?

im planning to get a 100-150g in about a month they can go in there when they are bigger i want to put all my fish in there when they get bigger.

I would just get a pair. They are not very active at all unless feeding. So you can keep 2 in there for a while. A pair will pile on each other all the time. Mine would always liked to hang in the plants. They will eat as much as you feed them so dont over feed them.

I'd go with some Delhezi. Great upper jaw species. Pretty active too.

so only two at a time i heard since they are bottom feeders that you can have more of them since they dont fight for space with the other fish. and can i mix breeds

You can mix them up. Senegals, Delhezi, and Pollis are a great mix to have:)
If you're planning on an upgrade and you're putting them in a 40g Breeder, you'll have some room. You can get 3-5, IMO.
