Hey guys what's going on. I'm new to the forum but I've lurked around for quite some time. I have two baby peacocks right now, unfortunately my first was killed by a jack who has been elocated to a different tank.
I got this one at about 1.5 inches and after being bullied by some other fish he was put into a small tank while he was healing. He did great, ate very well and had an awesome personality. After being put back into the large tank it appears the Jack may have gotten to him.
I feed my peacocks live food. My previous peacock did not really like ghost shrimp. I know a lot of people are against it, however some people fail to remember that these fish live in the wild and do not have access to these nutritious pellets that some feed them. Their bodies are made and designed to accept this food and get the nutrioutional value from it. I am cautious about this and treat the fish accordingly and am in the process of beginning to breed my own live food for them.
Here is my first peacock bass. Rip buddy, I loved this guy.
The algae in this second picture is the result of direct sunlight that promoted the algae boom. The tank does not look like and didn't for long. Tossed a little bottom feeder in the tank who had it absolutely spotless in 3 days and has since grown quite quickly. This tank now houses 2 baby angel fish and that sucker fish. The tank is in my kitchen and a lot of fun to watch.
These are my two baby peacocks. The store told me they were ordering me cichla ocellaris but I'm not quite sure of that's what these two are. My LFS can order a few types of peacocks including tems. If anyone can confirm what these two guys are I'd appreciate it
These guys are in a 55 long grow out for a short duration. My theory right now is since they're so small I don't want them in anything bigger as I'm worried they may have trouble feeding. So for a bit they'll be here until they get bigger, then they'll move. I have done my research on these fish so I am aware of their size and what they'll need to be in. My buddy is in the process of building a very large pond for his, so these guys have a home in the future when they out grow aquaria.
These guys are awesome little fish who have been doing well so far. One is clearly larger than the other, and eating well. I haven't seen much of the other one eat except for a few days ago, but I'm going to be putting some more feeders in tomorrow.
All my water changes are done in 60-80% increments.

no way really that's terrible omgwtf. Lol fortunately its not bad and actually great for fish. I have learned a good amount of aquaria from a guy in my hometown who has owned fish a fish store for as long as I can remember who has had tremendous turn outs with his fish. He put it o. His website as, would you rather brush your teeth, bath, and soak in old water with your own feces and urine, loaded with chemicals, or new fresh water at all times? I've taken that and ran with it and have had great turn outs myself. The great thing about aquaria is there's no EXACT science, this is all a hobby we learn as we go.
Comments and input appreciated, constructive or critisim accepted lol. If you can help me confirm what these babies in fact are thatd be awesome. Love your forum guys, lots of great info in here.
