Just sayin hey all - new and liking this place so far.
I am Keeper of the Chunga. 75 gallon tank. 9 inch tiger oscar, 2 inch firemouth, 2 giant danios and a twig nosed catfish.

BTW - anyone know how ling giant danios live? Mine have been going on now for over 5 years...they have graduated through all of my tanks (from 15 g to the current 75g) and are still going strong, although one of them is strating to look old. I call him Twitch now since when he swims it looks more like controlled twitching rather than swimming. If fish can get arthritis it seems that he has it.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing what everyone else has.
Peace.

welcome!

Umm...welcome!! LoL! Really should be in the Welcome Fourm.....but I guess it can stay here cuz your talkin about cichlids as well! LoL! I'm surprised your O's haven't knocked off the giant danios....lol....

Sorry - but yes I figured I would say hi to the fellow cichlid lovers out there first.

My O is not very "monster" for all their hype. He ate a few live fish when he was much younger (he ate 4 small catfish, 9 neon tet's, and a tiger barb), but otherwise now just leaves all other fish alone. The 2 inch baby firemouth actually can come up and eat some of the extra food that is being filtered out through the oscars gills - to the point where they are eye to eye.

75 gallon tank and there is a farlowella catfish, 2 danios and the small firemouth. The firemouth is actually more agressive than the oscar.

Welcome to MFK. Now that I have despensed with the niceties......Post pix we wanna see da fish man!:swear::swear::swear:

Howdy and Welcome to MFK! Hmm I had my 2 giant danio's pass away at about the 5 year mark. Could have room for more fish soon. But yeah hopefully you'll get another year out of the GDanio's.

you beat me to it. I want to see a pic of your 75G tank too!

Good work gettin your oscar to be kind of social. A picture of the firemouth baby eye to eye with an oscar eatin the same food could be a "photo of the month" picture winner!
