Hi I'm new to the fourm but already have a slight problem.
I recently got a free flowerhorn from my cousin. its color was black before but then my cousin been feeding it frozen shrimp. Now its color has came out and its a nice color but I don't feel like feeding it shrimp. I went out and bought Hikari gold for it. At first it took it and then spit it out and just left it there floating in the water. I'm thinking tomorrow of buying the New life stuff.

continue to try feeding it hikari gold, it looks to have potential, if its small. jus need some tlc and proper water paremeters, etc. And prolly some more adjustments to its surroundings.
 
im guessing male, he will eventually eat the pellets, they will eat before they starve just keeping trying and dont feed anything else
 
we'll see. I just joined my giant parrot with him. At first the flowerhorn was biting him and chasing him around, now my parrot is comfy and is chasing around the flowerhorn.
 
try not to feed for 2 days ( it wont hurt him ) then just put a small few to see if he eats them take out uneatin food after 5 to 10 mins. some fish and nit all like the pellets soft. but he will come around to the pellets good luck. keep the updates commin
 
well he is still not eating, my parrot eats all of it. actually my parrot owns the tank now, he just stays in one spot and doesn't move.
 
flowerhorns can't have tankmates unless you have a huge tank...150+....Umm is the flowerhorn small? if he is thats why it's in the corner...If it was big I think your parrot would be in trouble....it's a nice fish...Why dont you want to give him shrimp as treats?
