Hey guys/gals. Im new to the forum. I was told about MFK by a co-worker of mine and decided to take a look and see what this site was all about. Im amazed by the size and type of aquariums and fish that some of you have. My hats off to you! Im not really new to tanks, but more new to the proper care and maintanence. I had a 30g tank for about 8 years with only some convicts in it, nothing that great. Then i moved, cracked the 30 and decided to find something bigger. I bought a standard 55 g for $50. Put all the convicts in it and got bored of them. I wanted something with a little more personality and a variety. I found an auction in London, ON Canada and decided to go to it. It was being held by the London aquatic society i do belive. so i bought some fish!

As my tank sits right now, i have
2 jack demsehs, male & female 5-6 inches
1 red severn, 6 inches
2 oscars 4-5 inches & the other is about 8-9
1 colubian pike chiclid, 5 inches
1 talapia maranade, 4-5 inches
1 really old, big ass convict chiclid. 4-5 inches
4 1-3 inch convicts
1 pleco, 5-6 inches

I think it's quite alot of fish for a 55, but i do have 2 regent dual waterfall filters running it. I usually do 30 to 40 percent water changes 1-2 times a week just to make sure theres always clean water in the tank.

I also have one other chiclid in the tank that i have no idea what the actual name of it is. he's a tough little bastard though. I think im going to take a couple pics of him and post them to see what you guys think. Im sure you'll know

Any comments/ suggestions about my setup are more than welcome! Please be nice, im kind of a nOob!

Thanks in advance
James

Welcome to MFK.

Word of warning, that tank stocking probably won't work out in the long run.
