i recently set up a 20 gallon for a temporary fw home for a fish and added a light sand(10lbs)bed.rinsed the crap out of the stuff in a bucket over and over for an hour til i seen it was clear then i rinsed it a couple more times til i thought it was clear and i rinsed it a couple more times.then i added it to the full tank(fishless)the water got kind of cloudy.i set up the decor and aquascaped and made sure i didnt have any bubbles in the sand by sifting through it gently to get the bubbles out.let it set for a couple of hours, did a big water change.it cleared up some and i left it over night.slightly better, did another big water change, let it settle down for a couple of hours, put a 15 gallon filter i dont care about with a piece of filter cloth before the impeller so it doesnt get jammed up by sand particles.i left the tank alone for five hours and its pretty clear but i still see some kind particles at the surface looking through the bottom.now for the question....when is it safe to add a fish???
the filter id be using for this is a penguin bio wheel 350 gph that has been the extra filter running on an established tank.i dont wanna add fish or filter til i know its safe for both.
