Hello all and thank you ahead of time for reading the post... I have a few questions.. Im new to the hobby i was recently brought in by a cousin who also gave me a 30 gallon and complete setup and also a 125 gallon tank complete setup.. now i plan on getting some of the meanest bold predators you can and plan on using the 30 gallon for them as they are babys and as they grow use my 125.. does anybody have any imput on their favorite freshwater predator and any info on them they could spare.. i was thinking of eaither a florida gar or an arowana and some kind of unique pleco but not sure on any yet.. do you have any certain kind of pleco that looks unique? and any adive on the jardini arowana or florida spotted gar? thanks ahead of time and any imput is greatly appreciated :)

If your new to hobby stay away from Jardini! That 125g will get small real quick! Look into peacock bass there cool.

welcome BTW! Spend some time researching these fish and there needs first! Look in the Forums.

You sir need to spend time with that as well. P.bass will outgrow that 125 in no time. They get big

Welcome to the hobby btw sir. I too was from detroit at one time. I would say don't get a jardini, they get too big and they are mean as well. Silvers are a better aro, and better looking. The 125 will work for some time with the gar and the aro but they will need a bigger tank in due time. Look into some of the larger sa/ca cichlids. They tend to be on the predator side and can be very cool looking.

well about what size tank would i need for something like a jardini cause from what ive read they stay the smallest of all arowanas? i could not possibly fit bigger than a 180 in my house? and from what ive read also is that jardinis are very slow growers so the 125 would be able to work for at LEAST a year would that be a safe guess or no? and also did u guys have any kind of adivce on a cool pleco?

the jardini would be fine in a 185gal tank.. the only problem with this arowana is that very likely he will need to live alone.. they are very aggressive to other tank mates.. on occasion a few people have had success with added fish in the tank but the jardini at any time could attack.. and usually when they do they go for anything alive in the tank.. i love them though.. so having one fish in a 185gal would not be a problem to me. sorry i put 125gal but they definitly need a `185 when full grown.
