I got into fish keeping a year or so ago because I wanted to have a little under water garden with fish. I love the look of aquascaping but soon figured out that my water didn’t make for the best conditions for growing plants and I can’t get my hands on all the different plants I would like to try to grow. But I did figure out that I throughly enjoy watching the fish.
I went from having a 47gal bowfront freshwater planted community tank with injected CO2 to getting a second 125gal freshwater planted community tank. My 125 has a mated pair of angelfish that managed to have a batch of eggs make it to the free swimming fry stage but soon after they all got eaten. I was really only hoping a few would make it but after seeing them make it that far I decided I need to give them a better chance so I bought 55gal and I’m getting it ready to move the pair into so they can try again.
My dream project is to build a large aquarium in my family room that would be about 16 feet long and 2.5 foot wide and 30in deep and have a terrarium above it for my son to have lizards. My husband has told me I am crazy and that there is no way our floor could support this. I know it would probably end up weighing around 5 tons so he is probably correct. The wall I want it on would have it spanning over multiple floor joists. I would think we could have them reinforced and it could work.

Welcome aboard

I personally would hire a professional house or building contractor. That is the best advice imo.

Welcome to mfk G GreenAmy , glad you joined us. Great tank set ups. Thank you for sharing your dreams and aspirations.

I would encourage you to look through a few different sections we have here such as the breeding section- we would love if you started a thread about your angels and show pics of your progress so we can learn from your experiences.

Also there is a plants section

And the diysection you can find other builds to give you an idea on how to make your dream a reality. Can’t wait to see more about this in future.
