I'm doing my best to keep my new eel covered from the other fish in the tank, but whenever I think I have succeeded in making a cave for him, he swims up into the filter box and I have to pull him out. What's the best way to make my OWN cave for him? Thanks.

Hi and welcome to MFK!!

Do you have any PVC pipe lying around? try that.. he's probably looking for a more secure feeling...

I do, but I want something more "attractive", if you will. I want it to look natural; like it belongs there. I was thinking maybe some Cichlid Stones? The eel is about 7 inches long right now, so I figure a large Cichlid Stone should suffice.

Well the issue is not how the tank looks at this point.. Your eel needs a secure place to hide out.. I suggest putting the PVC pipe in and worry about the looks later.. if you don't, your going to end up with a dead eel...

Are you refereing to the large white stones with holes in them? If so, no your eel will not prefer that over a little cave just for him...

Just for future reference.. up top and to the right.. you'll see 'FORUMS'.. next time you need to post about something scroll through there and find the most appropriate spot.. I know your new, so posting here was fine.. but you'll get better traffic and help by posting in the appropriate areas.. GL!
