hey everyone!!!! I finally got on the thread and am getting ready for my ray. My build includes- red oak stand made by my grandfather, 125 gal, eshops wd200, (2) eshoopps pf800, danner mag supreme 1200, (2) koralia 1400 evo's, (2) MARINELAND 250W heaters in the sump, aquatic life t5 HO 4 bulb fixture, caribe sea instant aquariuum golden sun sand and decor like malaysian driftwood and so on. I am wondering what would be the best ray to start with. i have done lots of reading and research a ton to prepare as much as i can. also any advice? thanks for any comments!!!!!!

Casey;)

i would recomend a hystrix ray for that size but it won't last long. upgrade a bit u can use the 125 as a growout and move them to a 250 or 300 for good

Welcome to MFK I always heard a 125g was to small for rays. Good luck with your first ray.

If u done lots of research, u should know a 125 is Way too small. Will last a 5-6 inch Leo maybe 5-6 months if the ray is feeding and growing properly. Then it will be too cramped and won't be able to turn around properly. A member here told me exactly that and I didn't believe him. I upgraded 6 months later.
Motoro will grow faster probably.
I suggest you should get 200 g plus if u plan on keeping rays for longer than a year.

You will need a bigger tank eventually. I have cb bred hystrix for sale right now. Get 5 posts and pm me.
