Hi everyone! im quite new to having fish tanks. i currently have a 75g with african cichlids from lake malawi. pretty sweet setup. im thinking about setting up another tank for electric blue jack dempseys... iv been doing some research and im getting the idea that there not so easy... i was wondering if a gar would be sutible in the tank with the ebjd and what kind of vegation i could use... heres some pics of my cichlids!

What type of gar? Most "true" gars will grow big enough to eat or at least harm a jack dempsey. Some needle nose gars might work, but they are not really a gar. Also, most sa/ca cichlids and plants don't mix, but you may be able to get away with some hardier species.
