Hello. I am very new to aquariums and have had mine for about 3 weeks. I have just 3 mollies at the moment. The black molly looks rather fat and I think she may be pregnant. I will try to upload a picture but would like to know the signs of when shes about to give birth and do I put her into the the breeding box so the other fish dont eat the babies. Thanks for your help

thank you

Be careful with the fry.. In my experience mollies are some aggressive little guys. I've had them go after a few of my bullhead's fins, so I wouldn't doubt that they would go after the fry. There's alot of info out there regarding breeding mollies.. they are done often, and with fair ease as well!

Super easy, i usually just go to the store and pick up a prego female when i want a molly fry. Leaving her in the breeding box overnight after a water change when her birthing zone looks almost square w/ the fins (youll know what im talking about when you see it). I would divide my 30 and let the fry growout on one side and the parents on the other, worked really well but i would imagine it would work well in a 20 or 15 too.

You have Mollies and you come to Monsterfishkeepers for advice? Why not try www.molly-fish.com?
Not trying to hate, just seems like a non sequitur leap.

Actually a lot of ppl on here breed Mollies. Usually for food for their other fish but regardless of the reason there's still a wealth of knowledge here on Molly and guppy breeding.

Good luck op!

As the title state, the op is new to fish keeping and just wants some fish keeping advices. The overwhelming majority of us here started with small species and somewhere along the way veered into monsters. Nuturing not mocking help grows our hobby.

True. I apologize. I shouldn't post at 1:30am after I've had a couple beers! :)
