I just got back from rescuing our new 7" juvenile Sulcata Tortoise (leaning towards female, but not 100% sure). It will eventually be housed with our current 10" male Sulcata. Until then, I will have the new tort in quarentine, to make sure she is healthy and parasite free. Here are two quick pics of her soaking in a warm bath.

Nice pick up. Has it been kept inside it's whole life? If so, that could be why it's so dark. Got some slight pyramiding going on there.

This is a buddies (Truman):

whoa it has a very dark shell
its its pyramiding isnt too bad
not bad at all actually haha ive seen wayyy worse
good job

Yeah, I've seen much worse pyramiding on sulcatas. That one does have a very dark shell. Good job on the rescue

Shes very nice! The shell is a little dark but keeping her outside it should start getting back to the color of the pics above.Very nice, looks like my little girl!

Nice rescue :D With some spineless Opuncia and Hibiscus that should get better:drool:

Thanks everyone. I think the dark shell is just genetics...I have a slightly larger rescue Sulcata that has a much more blonde carapace. I'm also not to concerned about the pyrmiding...she's young and has a lot of time left for correcting it with a good diet and UV. She was already eating turnip greens and some romaine last night! I was worried she would take longer to acclimate. I'll update as we go.

Thanks again for the comments!
