Hey guys well I have been taking some pictures today of the trimac I ordered him from Jeff Rapps around Christmas and he has been growing steadily over the past few months. He is really starting to add some color and some weight now that I have him on Hikari Bio-Gold. Unfortunatly like in most cases he is really more beautiful than what the pictures I have really show of him. They really don't do him justice. In August I will be going back to school and he will have a 75 gal all to himself when he comes with me. Right now hes in a 29 gal. But I think hes doing ok I give him a 50% water change at least 1 a week if not more. Also in the past two weeks he has been going crazy. He fights my hand, the alge scraper, my face, and the pleco I have with him. He is truly going to be a glass BREAKER not banger when he gets to full size if he keeps going the way he is.

He looks good. Where did you get him? What were you feeding him before?

Rapps has some nice trimacs. Great stock. Urs is growing nicely.

Sounds like a really fun fish to own, he looks good.

I was feeding him Hikari cichlid Staple, the stuff in the green bags? He accepted it but never really liked it I don't think. I have been giving him Hikari Bio Gold for about 2-3 weeks and his color has drastically improved and hes growing much faster from it he also seems to much more enthusiastic to eat now since hes been on this food. Oh yea I got him from Jeff Rapps around christmas and I wasn't sure if he was going to turn out all that nice he seems pretty bland at first, but now hes turning into a real looker and character.

really nice looking trimac. Is that a verified male? I just ordered four trimacs from Ken. they will also be going in a 29 to grow out and eventually in a 90. Keep the pics coming.

It's a probable male (no spot on the dorsal fin)... but sexing at young/immature ages/sizes isn't always reliable...

It looks like Jeff sent you a good one! Trimacs are awesome fish...

Well when I bought him from Jeff Rapps the part of his site which shows the stock list prices had been labeled trimac males for $20 so I took his word for it and bought only 1, I know I shouldnt have bought just one but I was busy at the time of being asked by one of my freinds who was going to buy a wild female red devil from him so I just gave him 20 bucks and told him to get me one of the males. But from his growth rate and from what I can tell by looks he appears to be a male.

Looks male to me.

Here is a picture of my male Trimac from Rapps.
Yours is also a male.

You might want to try krill, crickets, and earthworms, mine loves them.

Mine lives in a 180 gal with a Rafael cat that only comes out at night.
He has killed his mate, a Jag and tried to kill four Silver Dollars until I moved them. He will be a wet pet from now own.

My photography is terrible, and doesn't do him justice.
Trimacs are the perfect combination of beauty, responsiveness.

Good luck with yours.
