they grow about 1" a month to roughly 6" in females or 8" in males, then they slow down quite drastically.


they are mostly carnivorous; high-protein fish pellets, shrimp/krill, market fish fillet, invertebrates, small live TROPICAL fish (NOT goldfish), insects, and other such foods would do them best in terms of growth and general health.
 
those are questins without good answers the better food you feed them the faster they will grow the biger tank will grow faster higher temps will grow faster and eat more if it is fed little kept in a small tank at 72 degrees will grow slowly
 
Frequent water changes will make them grow faster as well.
