Hello, I was given a tiger shovelnose and a lima shovelnose for free. They were orginally labled hockey stick catfish and hockey stripe catfish. Far from the point I know, but anyway I've had em for three days now. They just will not eat anything. I've tried shrimp, pellets, massivoire delite, and even nightcrawlers. Their both about 3.5''. P.h is at 7.2, and ammonia is at 0. What other foods should I try?? They were in a discus tank, if that helps at all.

So you got a TSN (3ft+ length) and a Lima (2ft length) and they wont eat for you. Go figure.

Try garlic. Tilapia filet and other market fish are usually pretty smelly therefore get taken readily.

How big are these guys? When I first got my babies at 3.5" they were really shy, though they ate sooner than 3 days. Do they have anywhere to hide? If not, they may do better if they feel like they have some cover. Another option is to feed with the lights lowered way down (but hopefully light enough you can see if they eat.). Finally, if you've tried all this and they still wont eat, they very well may have an internal parasite that you will need to treat for. Prazipro works well for many of the internal parasites and does not have to be eaten. G/L, and let us know how it goes.

I think he means Inches m8 , but agreed if he had a 3 feet tsn and it wouldnt eat for 3 days.. wouldnt have been worried , same goes for 3.5 inch give it some more time to settle

I know they're 3 inches, but they grow to 3 ft long...

Thanks for the info. Yes I have 2 caves and 6 fake plants. They tsn and lima often shoal together during the day when lights are out and hide when lights are on. Today I saw only the lima shovelnose eat. I saw him eat pellets. I think it is taking the tsn a while to settle in. I am going to try putting his food in garlic.
