hey MFK have a red ear slider? my cousin didnt want anymore.
so need some help ive had some turtles in ponds b4 but i dont have a pond atm. so it will be ina tank so whats the minimum tank size/foot print
i plan on a 40 breeder for 1 turtle? idk

With turtles you should aim for 10G of space per inch of turtle. Sliders get pretty big, what size is yours at the moment?

You'll need a basking area with heatlamp and UVB bulb, so that it can synthesise Vitamin D3, if you don't already have it. Keep the water temps around 25'C, and the basking area around 30 :)

Post pics if you can, always nice to see,
Paul

Hopefully you have a male res. They do get to be decent sizes as stated, but males are smaller than females.

Aim for something at least 4 feet by 2 feet by 2 feet. Might have to get something larger down the road as well.
Don't forget something that provides calcium like cuttlebone :)

great read!
my res is about 3.5" from tip of shell to end. so he will be in a 35 tub
2' x 1.5'? untill i can get a tank open for him witch wont be that long.
and if i dont get a pond this summer i will most likly rehome him at the local zoo or some were sutible. that guys

You can buy a cheap rubbermaid tub from Walmart that's 50 gallons for like $10 bucks. They work great for keeping turtles in.
