Well, as hard as I try, "good" people just won't let me "let it grow".
I was in the Bass Pro Shop in Arundelmills mall (Maryland), to replace the 7' medium action ugly stick stolen from my pickup truck last time in O.C. Maryland.
I could not help myself but to "check out" the live native fish tank display. Darned if a young kid doesn't bubble over rushing to grab the rest of his family to look at the ultra cool fish. I though to myself with great admiration that the kid was so excited and anxious to show his family the Amia Calva!
Imagine my DISDAIN when he pointed out the "snakehead" in the Maryland live native fish exhibit! Well I lucked out immensely! The Father was extremely receptive to a biology lesson for his entire family. The "event" ended extremely well due to the interest this gentleman showed (and made his family show) and the importance of a better understanding of native waterways. Education ruled the day.
It could have been a stint in "prison", "Hospital" or "Grave" for me trying to replace my stolen ugly stick had the parent been a LMB bass fisherman that kills the Bowfin to protect their dainty pansey (PREY) gamefish from the nasty Native Bowfin. It would have at minimum come down to fisticuffs if the parent was IGNORANT enough to "mistake" the native bowfin for the "invasive" snakehead and be totally closed to a much needed biology lesson.
This PDF will "edgimicate" yall enough to get by. PLEASE check it out!
