I am officailly back in the umbee game. I just traded my 3 jumbo bala sharks to Jeff Rapps and aquired 6 F1 umbees in return.

Jeff gave me 3 prospective male umbees in the 3 inch range from 1 wild pair and 3 prospective females in the 2 inch range from a different wild pair.

To add an extra twist I also aquired a 3 inch male umbee from sharkaquarium that was spawned from a wild pair owned by Don Conkel. This male will be the alpha male for sure. This guy was in a 20 gallon tank with 20 other umbees and he dominated everyone like nobodys business.

I will attempt to form a pair hopefully with a Rapps female and Conkel male.

See my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuLQG6f9_xU&feature=youtu.be and you will notice the conkel male flaring at himself while all the others are just swimming about.

congrats, will like to see them as they grow just keep a close eye on their aggression towards one another

Thanks...

So far the 6 Rapps umbees are peaceful swimming about their business with minimal aggression. The Conkel male is the only one showing aggression. He seems to be an angry dude always flaring at himself swimming back & forth along the back of the tank.
He has already laid law down in the tank making everybody run from him.

I am curiuos to see how the Conkel male turns out vs the Rapps males. I think I picked who will be my star Rapps male in looks but personality wise my runt chases him.

So those must be from the same batch I got? I will take some pics this weekend and show you you mine. Mine are a lil smaller, that conkel one looks very differnt. Do you notice freckling on them I cant really tell from the video?

Danny2875 told me that Rapps umbee that he has right now are from the wild cauught male on his website. Which is a complete stunner!!!!!:headbang2

woo hooo future stunners

3 of them are from 1 batch and 3 are from another so odds are 3 of mine are siblings of yours. Maybe my 3 smaller ones pushing 2 - 2 1/4 inches are related.
They all have blue freckling comming in.
I did notice 2 out of my 3 bigger 3 inchers were lacking orange on the gill plate and the orange line over the dorsal fin tip.
The 1 bigger one has distinct orange on the gill plate and in the dorsal fin tip. I also notice he is my biggest eater and was 1st to start eating. He has the biggest belly and is trying to stake a territory under my sponge filter.
I assume its male but body shape is not that elongated so who knows.
The Conkel male has an elongated body and does look different.

Regardless it should be interesting raising these guys and seeing what I end up with.
