Hello all .. first off want to say Great Site, really really informative and easy to understand ..

Just have a few Questions...

I have a 200g tank ... (750lt over in Aussie land here)

and I'm looking at setting it up for larger fish like some Oscars.. and I'm just wondering about the filtration needed for them ..

i currently have a ehiem cannister with a output of 1080 Lt/h (on a smaller tank), and was looking to possibly add a fluval Fx5.. which should be able to turnover the tank about 4 times a hr ... wondering if that would be enough or would extra be needed to help with the Bio

any advice would be greatly appreciated

P.S. i have all the heaters and lights and other acc, already just stuck on the filtration..

I would say to put the fx5 and a wet/dry filter on it. I prefer wet/drys on that size of tank plus with the fx5, you have redundancy. You can make a wet/dry tickle filter pretty inexpensively. If your tank isn't drilled, you can use an overflow box.

P.S. Welcome to MFK!

ok cool .. just wondering if there is any threads already on making your own wet/dry filter ... wouldn't mind giving it a shot

There are tons of threads on that. Just check out the DIY section. You'll find just about every type of w/d filter you could think of. Some good, some bad. Be sure to read the thread. Everybody's real good about telling if their filter works or not (or how to make it work).
