Hello folks before 2 days I bought an internal uv filter just to help a few stuff here and really I think I have good results until now and I like to see if there anyone else with uv experience and thinks I have to watch like how much hours will have to run the uv light or pros and cons and if there is any difference in the water parameters after some days???
I think water seems more crystal or at least looks like that.

First of all: Great tank!

Second, this isn't by any means scientific as I've only one tank with a UV filter, but a few months ago I stocked a 350L with 7 geophagus 'redhead' tapajos, a bristlenose plec, 17 penguin tetras, and 1 black neon that got caught by accident. All quarantined, all well, initially.

The black neon then developed a serious skin disease, maybe from injury: The scales started to slough off and the markings disappeared and paled on the classic 'saddleback' pattern and I thought "whoops, well he's done for". I couldn't catch him at all so left him in there. A couple of weeks later, with the disease visibly progressing, I plumbed in an external 18W UV filter to clean the water and lower the chance of disease outbreaks.

Since then, he's fully recovered. Disease has regressed and no other fish caught it either. Now this may be pure coincidence, but maybe the lower bacterial load in the water helped, who knows. Either way, that UV unit is staying on!

As an aside, there was no medication and this is the first time I've ever seen a fish recover from something like that.

Wow that's an interesting story though lol of people told me good things my uv it's more a hobby grade but it seems to do great work I will take off the sponge filters because I have already 2 beasts and I will keep only the uv light.
Tomorrow I will go for water test to see any difference.

Thnx my friend.
