Ok so I just got a hydra outbreak in my 55 gal. I heard that you can get a hydra outbreak when you have a lot of zooplankton or whatnot in your water. My tank water has a lot of debri floating around (the mech filtration is lacking a bit).

My idea is to add freshwater clams to outcompete the hydra for food. I heard FW clams can make your water crystal clear (from debri anyway). What do you guys think?

Hydra don't really cause any problems unless you have fry or really small fish...I have some in my native setup and they don't bother anything.
