So a friend of mine went to Uruguay with Ken a few weeks ago and brought me back a small 2.5" wolf fish. He told me it was a Hoplias Lacerdae... i'm assuming He came to that conclusion based on the collection point and the info given by those who have been collecting from Uruguay for awhile as I have found that it is hard to determine species of wolf especially in such a small size.

So I've found it hard to get any info on these guys especially at this size.I guess i'm just looking for some basic help here. I don't know much about these fish. I've an experienced hobbyist and have kept many tanks over the last 15+ yrs but my knowledge extends only to marine, planted tanks and african cichlids.

I have had this guy for a little over a week. It's in a 30 gal long with an undergravel filter and a tetra fin HOB rated for 70 gals. Seams like it might be too much flow? I might remove the undergravel filter. How much flow do these guys need? I know they can be found in streams and rivers so i assume the more the merrier. I'm also keeping the tank at room temp (no heater). Ph is 7.5.

He mopped through 2 guppies in that time (I stopped by my moms and raided her 55 gal guppy tank for some healthy feeders). He has shown no interest in flake or pellets however I didn't expect him too.

Haha look at the belly on the guy. Looks like my little ATF after downing some guppies. I like the coloration/patterning on him.

Not sure on current in the river he was picked up from, I always thought they liked a decent amount of flow though. I'll let others chime in who've kept wolf fish before.

Thanks gentlemen I appreciate the info and anymore that u can give me

Sweet little wolf.
