Hello all,

I've got an understocked 55 gallon currently holding:

1X 5" blood parrot with a functioning mouth
3X giant danios
2X african knives

I'll soon be adding 3-4 more danios and 3-4 bristlenose plecos. I'd like to add another cichlid of some kind, maybe another BP but I wanted to know if anyone else has some ideas. The tank is bare bottom and currently has a few ceramic cichlid stones, few pieces of driftwood, and two of those 3 foot fake bamboo plants by marineland. Filtered by the 75 gallon Hagen Aquaclear, an Aqueon HOB rated for 50 gallons, and a large spongefilter.

I wouldn't add 4 bristle plecos. One or two should be fine.
I'd add another blood parrot.

You are close to the limit. Maybe 1 or 2 more fish? Depending on your species of African knives, you may be maxed out.

If I can add one more fish since the tank is so cosmopolitan, I would get a paratilapia bleekeri

aren't those aggressive and large?

You maxed out imo. Giant danios get 6" and you really need a group of 6 which is super tight for a 55 let alone the others
