I went out this morning with the intention of picking a rock bass out of my local lake to keep my largemouth company. Nailed it. I was on the lake by 6:15 and caught the fish by 7:00. Didn't even finish my coffee. Great day. (I even went back out and caught a few more after I dropped him off in his new home.) Here he is, I thought id share, you can even see where the hook set in his mouth in the tank picture. Oh yeah, he already ate pellets too. What?

Rock Bass? That's a green sunfish, nice fish to keep anyway.

How about that, your right, it is a green sunfish. I was just misinformed of the name by my buddy. Either way I like that it's mouth is more bass-like. Embarrassing huh, probably should have looked that up before I put the name in the title. Anybody keep these guys have anything they would like to tell me about them. Like I said, it is a pretty good eater already.

Thank you. Yeah I like him a lot already. Iv'e been catching them at this spot and always thought about keeping one, so I am excited to actually follow through with it. Neat looking fish.

They can be very aggressive, so be careful with tankmates. Other than that, they make great pets. They're smart, hardy and good looking.
