I got this new Red wolf fish yesterday and seems to be doing good, eating, active etc... but it keeps jumping. The tank is sealed but it’s already scratched his head (pic). I’m not wanting a planted tank, but I was thinking about cutting up some fakes to float on top. Think this will help? I also have a bunch of fake reptile plants. Would that be safe to float in an aquarium? It’s a name brand like exoterra, or something. Any other ideas are appreciated

PS- it’s not usually that loud, that noise is the washer going

That’s a beauty!
Plants may help, it would at least know there is some cover up top. You would be fine with reptile plants, I use fish decor in reptile tanks and vice versa, as long as you clean it well it’s fine.

I think jumping would mean it’s not happy so maybe add some more hiding places and dim lights? I don’t have experience with wolfs but my bichir used to jump a lot when it didn’t feel comfortable. Good luck hopefully others chime in. kno4te kno4te

Get some floating plants and lower the water level if able.

Thanks, I have the water level about 3” from the top, does it matter if the plants are real or fake?
Doubt the wolf cares, real plants just taste better if he decides to eat it.

I also put a piece of cardboard to block the view of the tank next to him, he seems to have settled down, he’s been hanging in a cave with his head poking out for about 15 minutes, I’m also gonna order the Lillies that potato pattato suggested
Thanks guys
