Well new years day I got up and took my son wife and mum and dad down to see the hunt in the local village. Ok it might not be every ones cup of tea but I have shot for years and fish and I see it as part of a tradition that seems to be dieing out here in the UK. But I must say it was a good morning out every one had a good time and I must say the dog were great (different if you’re a fox I should think)

I don't get it. what exactly did you do?

Fox hunting is often viewed as a typically traditional British activity - but hunting with hounds takes place all over the world.

Historically, wherever the British have gone building empires, they have taken the fox hunt, or a close approximation of the field sport, with them. In many countries, including the USA, Canada and India, hunting is a living reminder of the days of the old empire.

However, the big difference between fox hunting in the UK and the USA is that American hunters do not set out with the intention of killing their quarry. And because of a lack of foxes, they often hunt coyote.

The UK 'tolerance' of hunting with dogs is often borught up, in international negotiations on animal welfare issues."

That's awesome! My mom use to ride in fox hunts over here. I can't recall if they use to kill the fox or not.

I posted it up because it has a very bad press in the uk

But I know a lot of you on here hunt and shoot and I have said my bit in the past about the bow fishing of large gars but I thought it might be of some interest as it’s just a tradition that seems to be slowly squeezed to death.

I for one have no problem with the hunting and killing of Red foxes over here. Actually, red foxes aren't native the the eastern half of the US. They were actually released for the purpose of fox hunting during the colonial times because our native Gray Fox was no fun to hunt. It can climb trees!
