IDk what it is but my fish always spawn when I am not home. Anyways my little centrarchus spawned while I was gone and are now guarding eggs. You can see the male is starting to adopt the females breeding coloration. You can't see the eggs in the video they are in the cave.

Thanks Gruff!

Odd thing is I like their breeding coloration but the male does look much better when he is not breeding. I don't think I will do a water change to avoid stressing them. Hopefully these guys are able to get their fry to the wriggler stage.

Pair are now guarding wrigglers. They are tucked in the cave so no pictures. Does anyone know how long until they become free swimming?

If they are wigglers now, they spawned before New Years. It should be about 5-7 days before they free swim. Have never owned one of these before. They are a cool looking little fish. Very nice. Good luck with the fry.

Flyer cichlids are quite rare right? I heard that they are hard to spawn you are very lucky! I´m sure there will be people willing to buy the fry from you, Good luck raising them and Congrats dude!

Thanks hopefully there are no mishaps. I love these fish to death so I am hoping all goes well.

Thanks, "Rare" is relative I guess. I know people in MD that have spawned them and I have even seen them in a LFS before. I guess you could say their availability comes and goes. Not really looking to make a profit just love breeding these guys so depending I may just give the babies away.

a few years ago when I lived in England I had a buddy in Wales that bred them and he was making a ton off of them because they are so rare in the UK. but since I came to Canada I see lots of "rare" fish for cheap so I guess its availability. Would be great to set up a little species tank for these guys. I might do that if I see some locally! your pair are possibly the best looking I´ve seen

Thanks for the compliment. They do look much better when they are not in breeding dress.

Babies are starting to become free swimming. I will post a video of them soon.
