hi, seeing as you just posted in setup and filtration asking for tips on filtration i honestly dont think you should be looking into rays - get some fishkeeping experience under your belt first. then look into keeping some of the more specialised fish available. good luck and welcome to mfk

Rays are beutiful fun fish to keep.....but I wouldn't even consider getting into rays until you are well versed in fish keeping.

Welcome to the forum and soooo glad you asked instead of a post saying help, my ray is about to die.

Get started on something simple and learn the nitrogen cycle as well as you can.

You need to know the importance of:

Water changes
Not cleaning out filters in tap water
not overfeeding
Cycling the tank
Stability

Ask as many questions as possible and buy a good test kit for ammonia, ph, nitrite and nitrate, dip strips are ok for weekly testing but not very accurate.

Good Luck

Best to build up ur exp & knowledge for a start with std fishes before u progress to keeping rays. They are sensitive creatures that require good water para and monitoring :)
