Hay everyone new to the group here I was wondering if anyone could tell me what a tiger shovel nose catfish is like personality wise?

Welcome to the forum, mate! TSNs are predatory fish but not aggressive territorially when housed properly. They don't hide much past say 10" size and swim around a lot when hungry. They may learn to interact with the keeper but that takes time and training because they lunge at food, whether it is free-floating or in your hand.

Is that what you are asking about?

Yes that explained what I was wondering I think ill stick with the red tail catfish had one before and loved it but sadly he passed away

Sorry to hear. Tell us your experience, post pics... if you will. Beware MFK is a large and diverse community though :)

I loved that fish got him at about 4 inches he died at around 9 inches because I used chemically treated wood for a cover on my grow out tank and I didn't know it was chemically treated at the time the next day I went to feed my fish and the wood was touching the water and all the chemicals leeched into the water killed all my fish

Sorry you lost them. Just another lesson learned.

If you mean pressure-treated, then yeah, that should not be in contact with water. I'd not even risk a possibility of condesate dripping or an occasional splash... unless you are running an open system maybe (no water recirculation, fast turn-over).
