Well, I need some help. How much space is needed to keep a catfish, and 2 bluegill? I have a huge tank that we had sharks in a long time ago, and a smaller, 45? gallon tank. I will take some pictures as soon as I can. But what is the minimum space need for a catfish and 2 bluegill?

Thanks,
Fisherkid

I think its a 90g or more.. we had 4 sharks in it, and they were 2-2.5' long each and they were comfortable, I want to start off with small fry, and what would you recommend as cat? I want to get one that will get medium/decent size but nothing to big where I will have to purchase another tank.

They say that bullhead catfish will dig alot and muddy up a native tank, but I have yet to have that challenge from them. The are far more active and although get large, not nearly as large as channel catfish do.

I dont know if its 90 gallons its a really really really long fish tank.

In a 90g you could have several Bluegill, but I would recommend that they be almost full grown if you are going to put in a Bullhead. Most Bullheads grow much faster than Lepomis sp sunfish , I believe that stonecats or the larger madtoms (Slender, Checkered, Margined, or Yellowfin madtoms) would work well with large sunnies. Yellow, Black and Brown Bullheads grow so fast and eat so much I would only put them in a tank with sunnies if the sunnies were much larger.

You should grab a tape measure and get the dimensions of the big tank, it will make things easier for all of us...
