I'm working on setting up my 155 gallon tank. I haven't had it set up in quite a long time. It had the filter boxes filters hanging on the back before, not really ideal.
I thought I would fill a 55 gallon drum with gravel and pump the water through it creating a giant under gravel filter. But after reading the stickies on this sub-forum I no longer think it is a good idea. I think a better idea is to take one of the cattle troughs I have, and some of the 18qt storage storage bins, and make a wet/dry filter.
I can elevate the cattle trough and gravity feed back to the tank. But I'm not sure how I should get the water to the trough in the first place.
Suggestions? I understand there are a thousand different options and opinions.
Please free to say "Well if it was me I would......." and feel free to be specific about pump models and stuff. I have a lot of ground to cover information wise.
I'm still working on becoming more educated in this area.
Thanks!
