Hello all! As I've been growing out my pbass I'm about to get them a bigger tank. I'm getting a 125g (I know not big enough just another growout) but I was gonna run a ac110 and a emporer 400. First of all is that enough for 4 or 6 3-6" pbass? I might leave 2 of them in their 55g to make sure they are eating well and get them off live. But if this is enough filtration for the tank how should I go about this?

I have the emporer running on another tank should I change the cartridge in there? I change them about every 1-2 weeks because I run it on a tank with one fish that is undersized for the tank. So how should I do that?

And how should I do the ac110? Should I run the filter for a few weeks till I get my 125? And I'm sorry I'm not up on my bacteria and bb so can you give me everything I need to know on that?

LOL I sound like such a newb here but I'd rather be safe then sorry with my pbass you know? I never really took the time to learn this before

If your filters are already running, just transfer them along with the fish and you'll be fine. Keep them on the 55 until the 125 is ready to go.

As far as the carbon, it is not needed, but does help in cleaning the water of chemicals.

The Pbass will be fine in the 125 for a while, but they will quickly outgrow the tank.

Lol I know this is just a bigger grow out for them before I get the bigger tank, but the thing is the ac110 is gonna be new how should I go at that?

When are you getting the new tank?
Just run it(new filter) on the 55 for a week or 2,then move it onto the 125.

assemble it, and hang it on the 55, till you set up the 125, then hang it on the 125 with the emperor and put all your fish in the large tank...

Also,
you do know that carbon will release the crud it originally cleaned out when it becomes saturated, right?
When you say?....that's why I only use carbon for specific tasks, like ridding the tank of Meds. Then I remove the carbon all together and toss it...

by carbon i mean the filter cartridges? if thats what you meant
yup go with SCRUBBIES or the cut to fit filter floss...w/o carbon

When I had those HOB type filters with the biowheels, I just salvaged a frame and wrapped it with the blue filter material and/or stuffed scrubbies in the rest of the room...;):D

Have you read that piece...
where pray tell would the average joe, get a super critical Co2 chamber capable of reaching 31°C and 73 bar, to clean out their Aquarium carbon?

What exactly is your point?!?

You're not thinking that is the ONLY time it releases the crud right?

I guess my point is what exactly do people think that carbon will release back into their tank? What exactly, besides meds,do they think it is removing? Using carbon,or not using carbon is up to the individual.I personally think it is a waste of money, and do not use it.
But you adivised the OP that it will relaese the crud it absorbs back into the water. What crud is it removing? And what and when will it relaese it back into the tank?

Yes I have read that piece. Why do you think there is any other time it would release the crud?
