So my sump has two holes pre drilled on top. One on the far right and one on the far left (12 inches apart or so). Do I need to have water flowing through both so that the surface area of the drip hits the entire filtration pad and bio media compartment beneath it?

Do you have a pic of the sump. I could be dual input or it could be a second hole for the pump. Its hard to say without seeing it.
