Hey guys! I'm new to the site and I didn't know where to put this, so if it's in the wrong spot, I apologize!

So I wanted to get a small tank to keep a few fish in, or maybe just a betta. I've had 3 bettas in the past (Not all at once) and they lived for about 3 years each, and then I've had a bunch of feeder goldfish that have lasted as long as 8 years (Just one fish made it that long). I'm a college student living at home with my Dad while I'm in the process of transferring schools, and we'll probably be moving to a townhouse soon, and then I'll be moving once a year at school.

My question is, what kind of tank would be decently easy to keep fish in, but be easy enough to move around?

I was looking at something like this, but I want something a bit cheaper:

Sorry for the long post!

welcome to MFK! i think, each could be housed in a 5G tank. or in a 15G with glass barriers.

I'd recommend a plain jane 5 or 10 gallon. They are cheaper then those fancy betta tanks.

If it is the same as before(in my younger days) a 10 gallon is the cheapest small tank(strange but cheaper then a 5 gallon). However with your moving alot, pay the extra for a 5 gallon.

Whatup.

You can get a complete 10 gallon setup at petsmart for about 50 bucks, leaves you with a lot more room and options, and comes with everything you need but the fish and decor.. With gravel and everything it'll weigh less than a 100 pounds full, and could be transported pretty easy if mostly drained. Whatever you decide, good luck, and welcome.

So I ended up going with the BiUbe 9g, and now I have to make the difficult choice of what to stock it with. Any recommendations?

buy a Fluval Edge. its a 23 litre, i think thats about 11 gal. the tank comes with a built in AC filter. http://www.hagen.com/uk/aquatic/addinfo/fluval_edge_discover.cfm here you go. i believe petsmart sells em.

and as for fish? real plants and a small piece of driftwood and two small schoals of tetras, like neons and rummynoses with cherry shrimp and snails would be nice.

I don't think that tank would have fit in the space where my biUbe is. I got the tank cycling yesterday, so I'm going to go get the fish sometime today. I'm still being a bit indecisive about what I want. I know I'm going to get a cory, some tetra, maybe a dwarf gourami, but I'm not sure on what else to get/what not to get

cory cats like to be in groups, however they can do ok solo. on the other hand, im not too sure you should be keeping one in a small betta bowl. one or maybe two snails are ok as well. i might personally skip the gourami in the tank, and get a male betta. generally, the male betta SHOULD be ok with a cat since it dosent resemble another betta at all. or you could just stick with a couple real small tetras, or one or two blind cave fish (mexican tetras)

for such small tanks, bettas really are the best option however, i think. clean water, a fake plant or two, and you have a perfect environment for a betta to thrive.
