just getting started on my own indoor freshwater stingray set up. It will be located under my stairs in my basement which is half finished. We live in tennesse so it goes from hott to cold. The dimensions are 3ft wide 5 ft long and 18inches deep. The supporting structure is going to be 6x6x12 cement blocks with foam inslutaion on the inside. Really confused on the filtration needed and some cheap models that still work well i have about $200 to spend on just filtration. Any ideas on keeping it heated too? i am currently planning on using 3 250watt nonbreakable heaters with covers to protect from ray damage is this ok? and any other ideas or suggestions. i have read almost anything and everything offered but nothing is better than experiance.
Thanks
Rylan

First research standpipes and overflows and build yourself a wetdry aka trickle filter to sit under the tank. A decent 600-1000 GPH pump will keep things moving and a full-length homemade spraybar will keep the tank tidy without the intense current. You will need to keep the heaters away from the rays as they will invariably burn themselves. Best to have them in the filter.

Second - find a local aquarium society. Lots of great information and experience in every club.

Good luck with your tank!
