Hi all,

I've been keeping small tropicals and oscars for a few years but I've got the Australian Native bug since i got a baramundi (awesome fish!)

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with Murray Cod - I know they grow huge but was wondering how fast they grow and whether you can start them in a decent sixed tank with other natives like Saratoga, Bass, Baramundi etc.

ive got one. hes a bit aggressive hes in with 2 barraz, silver perch, coal khaki grunter, spangled perch, and more. in a 5ft
once i get my 8ft hell go there

ok so they dont grow that quickly really when not at all really.

also provide them with a place to hide, two would be better. Dont keep them with fish that wont look after themselves or that will try to fight it and then just not defend themselves, they'll get smashed. Those three that you mentioned should be fine with them given enough room. The saratoga should hardly see the cod anyway.

Awesome - I've got a 3m diameter pond as well as my tank so they can move out there when they get too big - you don't get to see them as well from the top though.

I'll just have to keep dreaming of a glass front pond like everyone else..

Hey amehel0, I'm on the Sunshine coast - I was wondering if you have heard of these fish suppliers - they have got some great prices and fish (they've got 100-150mm leichardti's for $55!)

Hey Benjine
I had a look at that link and actually know the guy, he is a family friend (you can see him in the background of the Murray cod pic).
He definitely knows his fish, bit of a suprise actually as I thought he only did bulk orders for dams and such.

yeh they are good better then the 110 i paid fer mine :( um just to let u know that 3 metre pond is not that large fer barraz or murras but u could keep barra in there till there 3-4 years old

you're right amehel0, anything smaller than a river is prob only temporary for these fish
At least the barra awill be good eating once they outgrow the pond!
