Hello Everyone,
This is my first post. I want to stop in and say Hello. I've had aquariums on and off all my life. My favorite fish I've had in the past have been Oscars, albeit they were on the small side at under 8". I'm looking to put together a Cichlid tank (55 gal) in the future.
I surfed on in here looking for DIY filter ideas for my father's tank. It's a 125 gal tank that I gave him due to my previous house constraints. Anyway, he keeps natural fish in it that range from 6"-8". It's running on one canister filter and it's not enough. I'm hoping to convince him to run a wet/dry, but I might just give him another canister filter.
Currently I'm concentrating on upgrading our outdoor pond from 500 gal to 1500 gal. I'll be putting the goldfish back in along w/ some koi. We all like the koi and my daughter (18 mos old) loves to feed the fish.
Anyway, this place is awesome
. Some of these tanks are phenomenal. I hope not to get sucked it too much. My wife already thinks I'm crazy
and I'm not sure I have it in me to convince her to let me build a 1,000 gal aquarium...although when we finish the basement, I might be able to slide it into the plans.
Later,
Steve.
