Thinking about getting some F1 Festae fry, growing them out, and then keeping the females (because I like their color).
Question: Is keeping 3-4 female festae in a 135g community tank be okay?
If multiple females cannot be kept together, then a single female would not be too aggressive correct?
I am thinking about growing them out and keeping them with Uaru's and Severums.
THank you.

I wouldn't recommend that. Most likely what will happen is at best two of them will color up and look great dividing the tank from each other runnin the others ragged and battling each other from time to time. Or you will have one raining terror. I haven't had luck keeping small groups of festae together past sexual maturity. And they aren't the best wet pet kept solo, I would recommend a small community to keep the activity level up:)

Why wouldn't a single festea make a good wet pet? Just curious.

I would have to agree with fwp as far as 3 will be a problem but I've kept a single festea in a community tank. Till 6 inchs only reason I move him was to breed him . Now I also have a female festea at 3.5-4 inchs with different types of jds 2 gold 2 blue 2 standard also 1 red severum 1 kkp. She's runs the tank .

The reason I say that is if the only fish in the tank is one female. Festae are not responsive to their owners like oscars, Midas, etc now granted there are some exceptions to this because it does come down to the individual fish and its personality. But a solo festae with other fish is better because the other fish will help keep the activity level up and bring your festae to be seen and colored up better
