Hello all. I have gotten to know paradise, ibn and some of you over at a fishy forum (it is appropriate to name it?) and have followed them here to learn more about aquatic photography. I hear this is the place to be and I am very excited about being a member and learning all I can from you.
I'll start with a quick introduction of myself. I am a Certified Veterinary Technician and teach with a Veterinary Technology program here in Tucson. I have been an aquatic hobbyist for some years and our whole family is seriously afflicted with MTS. We have a small zoo, as well as many fish tanks, so we keep busy and never take vacations. Our household consists of me, my daughter Danielle and my boyfriend Pat (and all the animals).
Now, to my camera. I got a cheap 35mm point and shoot camera when Danielle was born and it finally died last year. I have zillions of rolls of film that never got developed. Now that Danielle is getting older (almost 12), I figured I better get a digital camera to document all of her accomplishments. I needed one that I could get those pictures without having to know anything, yet that I could learn and it would grow with me. From advice on the fishy forum for features to look for in aquatic photography and my ignorance in photography, I settled on the Canon A700. So far, the auto and special features have allowed me to get the photos I want at special events, etc. Now, it's time to figure out how to use the manual settings and start getting pictures of my finned friends.
So, basically what I'm saying is that I will drive you nuts with lots of stupid questions.
Please be patient with me and I will learn, I promise.:-D
